Project's description

As Casablanca expands, the Green Spine District proposes a resilient model for 2050 coastal living. Facing challenges of rising sea levels and flash floods, the design integrates "Sponge City" infrastructure directly into the public realm. A central linear park acts as a flood retention basin during storms and a lush community corridor during dry spells. The vertical architecture features "breathing" facades with integrated vegetation and elevated sky-bridges, separating pedestrian life from transit and creating a cool, self-sustaining micro-climate.

Technical Specifications:

  • Micro-Climate: The orientation of the towers is aerodynamically shaped to channel the prevailing ocean breeze into the streets, lowering the urban heat island effect by 4°C.
  • Mobility: A "last-mile" autonomous pod network runs on a dedicated elevated loop, eliminating the need for private vehicles within the district.
  • Energy: The district is powered by a centralized "waste-to-energy" plant that converts organic refuse into electricity and district cooling.
