Project's description

Perched on a coastal hillside, this project challenges the "sterile block" approach to hospital design. We deconstructed the program into a campus of light-filled pavilions separated by medicinal gardens, utilizing a "Green Lung" strategy to circulate fresh sea air. Every patient room is oriented toward nature, leveraging evidence-based design to lower stress levels and accelerate recovery. The architecture prioritizes mental well-being as equal to clinical excellence, creating a facility that feels more like a wellness retreat than a medical institution.

Technical Specifications:

  • Infection Control: Isolation wards utilize negative-pressure displacement ventilation, ensuring 100% fresh air exchange every 6 minutes.
  • Circadian Rhythm: Patient rooms feature tunable LED lighting that mimics the solar cycle (cool blue in the morning, warm amber at night) to regulate sleep patterns.
  • Seismic Resilience: The critical surgical block sits on base isolators, allowing the facility to remain fully operational immediately after a seismic event.
